iPower 600 900 9000When Polycom acquired PictureTel in 2001 they inherited the iPower 600 and 900 series of PC-powered video conferencing systems that PictureTel had developed in conjunction with Intel. With high quality cameras and codecs, these systems produced a great meeting experience especially as content and data sharing came as part of the PC-based package. This strength is also their downside, with boot-up times in the minutes rather than seconds and Pentium III processors meaning slow PC performance. The 600 was a set-top configuration whilst the 900 was a tower PC. The 9000 rack-mount system was launched in 2003 and was the Polycom flagship system until it was discontinued in 2005. |
